Live Webinars (really training) over the Internet

using

GOTOMEETING  system with integrated audio/microphone and now utilizing a WEBCAM

Online GD&T training is absolutely the best and cheapest method. Train in the convenience of your office or at home as long as one has a high speed internet connection and a headset with a microphone using a usb connection. You should also have an attached web cam to fully complete this online experience. Most new laptops are equipped with a web cam and audio but please make sure that you use a separate headset rather than use the lap top since your voice could be  muffled and we all get feedback.

There, absolutely, is full interaction between the participants and myself and also participants and each other. More so on the online seminars than an in person seminar at your plant.

We now will utilized our webcams and can see each other face to face. This new to GOTOMEETING and really works.

Registration

Register online using the secure registration site. One may use a credit card or PayPal for payment but payment is not taken out until one (1) week prior to the webinar date. Your company will be sent a receipt at that time along with the training book as a pdf file attachment. One may pull out of a seminar up to one (1) week prior to the seminar date otherwise you are locked in and only substitutions are permitted.

Visual - What I see is what you see!
Whatever I have on my computer screen, you see. It doesn’t make any difference about the programme that I am using, you see what I see.

If I change my screen, your screen also changes.

If I magnify the view of drawing, your screen will also change. It really works and is quite simple.

I can highlight an area on the screen. You also can highlight an area. You see everything on my screen and have input.
I will present this seminar exactly as I have for years in front of a group of participants using a computer and projector. Here, I only use my computer.

Exercise answers from the participants will be simultaneously placed on the computer screen using the participants computer pen. Each person has a different color and we can evaluate each other's answers. This interactivity enhances the learning process.

Do You Have a Drawing that We Can Discuss

If you have a drawing for discussion, I will switch Moderators from myself to the individual wanting to discuss the drawing. YOUR computer is now alive and will be seen by all the participants. Retrieve your drawing from your own hard drive and present it on the screen LIVE. WE ALL SEE IT!! You control the drawing!!

You Can Operate My Computer Screen

We can both operate my on screen cursor if the participant wanted to discuss a point. Each participant can also draw on the computer screen (similar to going to the white board in a public seminar), highlight an area or make special notes.

On the right we have a drawing on the computer screen when I was using GOTOMEETING. Someone highlighted a couple of feature control frames while someone else circled two (2) other feature control frames using the computer pen. It does work and can be fun.

Web cam - We now can see each other using a web cam. This was just introduced by GOTOMEETING recently and it makes the online seminar a bit more personal. This feature may make some particpants a little less resistant to trying this online seminar.

Connecting to GOTOMEETING

On the day of the seminar, the  GOTOMEETING invitation will remind you 15 minutes prior to the seminar time. Once you click on the GOTOMEETING invitation, it will ask you to download (or run) a file. Once you have downloaded, it will ask for your name and e-mail address. Place your name but don't worry about the e-mail address.

You are now in and you will be able to see my screen live and talk over the Internet using your headset.

We will have a trial run prior to the training date to make sure that participant is comfortable and everything functions they way it should. Want to try the system out prior to signing up?? Just give me a call.

Training Book

I will also send  a pdf file of the training book by e-mail attachment to each seminar participant that can be opened using Acrobat Reader. This is a free program. If you don’t have it, just go to www.acrobat.com and download it. Please run this book off in a hard copy and have it ready on the day of the seminar along with sharp pencils and, maybe, a bottle of water.

All answers will be sent via e-mail attachment after the seminar is completed. The book front and rear covers will also be sent via snail mail and it is suggested that the participant take the completed book, answers and covers to Staples or other office supply store for cerlox binding at a cost around $3.00. You now have the same book as participants of any public seminar.

Want to communicate with me or another participant privately during the seminar?

We can communicate privately to each other by using the online  e-mail method within GOTOMEETING. We can also talk to each other using the headset with microphone.

Participant Involvement during Training

I would have a list of the names on a  sheet of paper and would ask each person questions during the seminar and mark a tally mark under their name.  This way, the questions are evenly distributed and it also tells me if the training has been successful.

Need Assistance During the Training

During a public seminar, I would walk around and review the answers while online I would ask the group that if anyone has a problem, please contact privately through the GOTOMEETING e-mail system. I would then ask the group to turn off their volume with the exception of the particular person. Now I can help this person individually without disturbing the group.

“Certificates of Accomplishment”

A certificate will be sent via mail to each person passing the test. If the webinar is GD&T, the certificates are traceable to my ASME GD & T Professional Certification numbers.

What do Participants who have taken  an ONLINE training Say?

Here are a couple of comments from an online GD&T training

"I feel that I learned more here than going to a public seminar through the interactivity among the participants and the trainer"

"This is great and would recommend it. We have sent people out for this seminar in the past but in the future,
we will do it online"

Advantages of ONLINE Training
  1. No travel costs or expenses traveling for training
  2. Online seminar prices are less than a public seminar - $200 less on a 2 day seminar
  3. No overnight time away from home
  4. Comfort of your own desk and office or it could be taken at home
  5. Participants will place their answers on the computer screen
  6. Books will be sent to you via e-mail in a pdf file one week prior to the webinar
  7. Participate in discussions from people all over - both verbally or written. One can contact either the trainer or any other participant privately during the webinar.
  8. Handle department problems prior to the seminar, during breaks and lunch (if you want)
  9. Better chance of a seminar proceeding since the minimum number required is two (2).
  10. Ask questions  - sometimes during a public seminar participants may not feel comfortable asking questions. Online it is different using your headset.
  11. Participant may input the computer screen similar to placing information on a white board since each of us will use a computer highlighter and various color computer pens.
  12. Want to show a drawing, then we can turn the webinar over to you and then your computer is "LIVE".
  13. Can now see each other using web cams
